Flood situation remains grim, toll 34

GUWAHATI, Aug 1: Even though the flood situation in the State has slightly improved, the overall situation still remained grim on Monday with three more deaths reported, taking the toll to 34 and affecting nearly 12 lakh people across the State. According to Assam State Disaster Magement Authority (ASDMA), floods claimed two lives at Chapar and Bilasipara in Dhubri district, and one in Barpeta district. The Brahmaputa river was still flowing above danger mark at Neematighat in Jorhat district, besides at Dhubri. The Dhansiri and Beki rivers were also flowing above danger level at Dhansiri and at Barpeta respectively.
