’Give importance to local language’

GAON, February 1: Delegates and litterateurs from across the State thronged the Aatma Ram Sarma Somony Kshetra on Sunday on the second day of the 73rd biennial session of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX).

The concentrated sky of Koliabor had mingled with art and culture. The delicious ethnic food prepared by local people was a big attraction among the participants.  The Koliabor AXX session made a record when more than a 100 books were iugurated on Sunday.

Eminent litterateur from Maharastra, Bal Chandra Neimer graced the iugural programme as the chief guest. He was delighted to see people’s response and cooperation towards AXX and the Assamese language. He appealed to the people of Assam that along with the English language, they should also give equal importance to their own language.

During the midday session, a meeting of delegates was held at the freedom fighter memorial hall, Koliabor. In the meeting it was decided to change the constitution so that the electoral system for president and  secretary could be changed.
