How to obtain a trade licence

Want to start a business? First, you need to obtain a trade licence from the civic body you belong to after submitting an application, along with all necessary documents. If you submit your application online, submit all necessary documents along with the application after scanning them. The online facility is available in Guwahati only. The necessary documents are your identity proof, address proof, registration certificate, up-to-date receipts of property tax. The rental agreement is a must if your business establishment is housed in a rented building of place.

If you are keen to do business in Guwahati, it's Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) where you need to approach for a trade licence. You need to submit your application which is obtained after paying a fee of Rs 100, along with all necessary documents, to the GMC authority. GMC will charge a trade fee, the amount of which depends on the size of your business establishment. At present the trade fee in Guwahati ranges from Rs 1,750 to Rs 20,000. After the submission of the application a GMC team will visit your business premises and issue you the trade licence within 21 working days.
