Kaziranga decks up for Royal couple visit

Tezpur, April 9: Assam is all set to welcome the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, who will arrive in the State on April 12.

The royal couple will land at Tezpur airport on April 12.

Sonitpur district administration sources said the security arrangements were being looked after by the Ministries of Defence and Home Affairs. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and top officials of the State as well as district administration will welcome the Prince and the Princess at Tezpur airport.

The royal couple will then proceed to Kaziranga tiol Park and stay at the Dipholu River Lodge located near the Unesco World Heritage Site. On the morning of April 13, they will visit the tiol park. At the park, they will have a brief interaction with dignitaries and jourlists.

They will be escorted by British Police and accompanied by one publicity officer, two jourlists, one Indian and a British photographer. At 8.30 am on the day, there will be an interaction with forest officials on Kaziranga and the threat faced by the tiol park over the years.

Concluding the jeep safari at 9.45 am, the royal couple will again interact with forest officials and jourlists at the tiol Park entry gate. They will wind up their visit on April 14 and spend around 45 minutes at the LGBI airport, before leaving for Peru.
