Akhil Gogoi Chief Convener of ‘Ga Mukti Sangram Asom’

GUWAHATI/SIVASAGAR, March 20: The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity (KMSS) on Friday formally launched its new political party med ‘Ga Mukti Sangram Asom’ (GMSA) at Moran in Sivasagar district during its 4th biennial conference. Akhil Gogoi was selected as the new political party’s chief convener along with three other conveners.

Gogoi also made it clear that he will not fight next year’s Assembly polls in the State. The KMSS leader said that his party will be different from others in ideology and principle, and will work for the uplift of peasants, workers and other underprivileged classes.

Attending the biennial conference of the KMSS as chief guest, noted Gandhian leader An Hazare said, “All Indians must unite to build the tion. Akhil will now have to perform huge tasks. Ja Sansad is stronger than the Delhi sansad, Gram Sabha is higher than Bidhan Sabha or Lok Sabha.”

Criticizing both BJP and Congress, Hazare said, “There is no difference between Congress and BJP. The ‘Achche Din’, which the BJP had promised for the common people, has not become a reality. Instead, the BJP has ushered ‘Achche Din’ for the capitalists.”

Speaking on the Land Acquisition Bill, the Gandhian leader said, “There is immense satisfaction in going to jail for the larger interests of society. And for the interests of peasants and labourers of our country, we will start a massive Jail Bharo movement.”
