KMSS protests land Act

By Our Staff Reporter
Guwahati, January 8: The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity today opposed the recent ordince of Right to Fair Compensation and Transperance in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 and has dashed off a protest note to Prime Minister rendra Modi. In the letter, the KMSS  said the ordince goes against the Indian farmers who need more government support and protection. The ordince put the farmers’ interests and rights at stake by implying that land can now be acquired for a wide range of projects without having to exhaust the pre–acquisition processes that had been put in place in the 2013 Act. “The KMSS believes that your government, in the me of economic reforms and development, has taken a significant regressive step in Indian peasants’ right over their land which is their only source of livelihood. The KMSS opposes this ordince which is pushed through in all manner by violating all democratic norms and demands that the ordince be scrapped and rights of the farmers over their land be restored,” the letter to Modi stated.
