Make evidence public, BJP dares Dutta

GUWAHATI, Nov 29: The State BJP has dared Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Anjan Dutta to make evidence public to back his allegation that the BJP has paid AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal Rs. 150 crore to filed candidates in all the 126 Legislative Constituencies (LACs) in the State so as to ensure the defeat of the Congress.

There have been statewide reactions to Dutta’s allegation. AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal did ask Dutta yesterday to make the evidence supporting his allegation public, failing which he would have to file a defamation suit against the APCC chief.

In a statement issued to the press today, State BJP spokesperson Bijan Mohajan said: “APCC president Anjan Dutta has been simply peerless in making such statements without equipped with any material evidence. This is not the first time he has made such a comment. We dare him to make the evidence supporting his allegation public. Our tiol president Amit Shah has already said that the Congress and the BJP have been going to the 2016 Assembly polls shoulder to shoulder to win the polls, but we won’t let that happen.”

On Ajmal’s outright denial to the allegation leveled by Dutta, Mahajan said: “Instead of making his threat to Dutta just to hit media headlines, Ajmal should drag the APCC president to the court.”
