Meka to deliver lecture at British Museum

GUWAHATI, Feb 27: Xatriya dance exponent Dr. Meka PP Bora has been invited by British Museum of London to deliver a lecture on ‘Mudra, Manuscripts and Music: Recreating the Rate Artistic Legacies of Assam’ in connection with the exhibition of famed Vrindavani Vastra and to present a multimedia presentation – Xatriya dance and music.

She is the only Indian classical danseuse to have received such an invitation from British Miseum.

Talking to the press at Guwahati Press Club today, Dr. Bora said: “I’ll promote Assamese arts as a global brand for intertiol audience and museum goers in London and Oxford through my dance performances, screening of films, British media appearances and talk shows. I’ll also screen my own ethnographic film – Xatriya dance and music – there to showcase Assam’s ethnic culture as depicted in Vrindabani Bastra.” She is going to deliver her lecture on March 7 along with Briton Michael Palin and her film will be screened on March 18.
