Seven from Assam clear UPSC

Guwahati, May 10: Seven candidates from Assam have cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) 2015 Civil Services (Main) examition and interviews. The seven from Assam who cleared the exams are Padmaram Barua (194 rank), Sagarika th (199), Bidisha Kalita (210), Pur Bora (466), Subhrajyoti Bora (557), Jyotirmoy Bailung (786) and Mamoni Doley (1005).

A total of 1,078 candidates, including 499 in General category, 314 belonging to Other Backward Class, 176 from Scheduled Caste and 89 from Scheduled Tribe, have been recommended for appointment to various central government services, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) said. There are 172 other candidates in the waiting list.

The civil services examition is conducted by the UPSC annually in three stages - prelimiry, mains and interview - to select candidates for the elite Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), apart from other allied services.
