Slew of decisions in last cabinet meeting before polls

Guwahati, Feb 28: In a slew of decisions, the State cabinet today merged the DRDA with Zila Parishad, created twelve new revenue circles - Rangapara, Bargang, East Mangaldai, Jaleshwar, Balija, Aathoni, Gauripur, Manikpur, Laokhowa, Dispur East, Dispur West and Guwahati West, regularized the jobs of 6,500 additiol contractual teachers of high schools and high madrassas (provided they complete their B.Ed within five years), approved the film policy proposed by a Jahnu Baruah-led committee in toto and hiked the remuneration and medical allowance of Gaon Burhas from Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,000 and Rs 100 to Rs 400 respectively. This was the last cabinet meeting of the third term of the Tarun Gogoi government.
