By Our Staff Reporter

Guwahati, Aug 9: Opposition parties in the State are girding up loins to attack the Congress-led government on a number of issues, including the Louis Berger bribery scam, anomalies in Assam Public Service Commission and scams in the Agriculture department, as the five-day summer session of the Assembly begins on Monday.

Sources in the Opposition camp also said that legislators will also take up problems faced by people in the NRC update process.

The government will table nine bills, including two new laws, during this session. The new bills are the Assam Witch Hunting (prohibition, Prevention and Protection) Bill, 2015 and the Assam Agriculture Land (Regulation of Reclassification and Transfer for Non Agricultural Purpose) Bill, 2015. Though the Assam Venture Educatiol Institutions (Provincialisation of Services) (Amendment) Bills, 2015 was listed earlier for the session, the government has decided to drop it from the agenda at the last hour despite prolonged protests by venture school teachers.

The other bills that will be tabled in the House tomorrow are Assam Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, Assam Agriculture Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, Assam Health Infrastructure and Services Development Fund (Amendment) Bill, Assam Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Bill, Assam Repealing (No II) Bill, Assam Repealing Bill and the Cotton College State University (Amendment) Bill. The State government will also place before the House the supplementary demands for the year 2015-16 tomorrow.
