DIBRUGARH, May 16: “We won't allow Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to enter the premises of Dibrugarh University (DU) ever again if the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, is passed in the Parliament. If need be, we're even ready to shed our blood while upholding our pledge,” cried several groups in unison while taking out a torchlight rally to condemn the Bill under question on Tuesday.

The rally, which was a joint initiative of the AASU DU unit and the Postgraduate Students’ Union of DU, also witnessed the participation of many other associations like DU Employees’ Union, Duwarachuk Pragati Mahila Samiti, Barpathar Yuva Sangha, Yuva Samaj, Lachit Sangha, Dibyajyoti Sangha and Bhauna and Sanskriti Vikash Kendra. The people of Greater Barpathar also joined the protest rally in large numbers. The rally was marked with vehement outcry and slogans against the government.
