After flight services resume, 686 passengers arrive in Assam

GUWAHATI: After the domestic flight services resumed in the country on Monday, as many as eight flights landed at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport at Borjhar here. According to reports, eight flights departed for Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Imphal from the airport.

Altogether 686 passengers arrived at the State; following which officials of the Kamrup (Metro) District Administration and the Health Department screened the passengers of Darrang, Morigaon, Hojai and Kamrup (Metro). Passengers of the four districts were taken to a private hotel where their swab samples were collected after screening. The passengers of the aforementioned districts will be quarantined and if their test results prove to be negative, they will be sent for home quarantine, a source added.

Passengers of other districts were sent to their zonal centres in ASTC buses.

State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma arrived at the airport and took stock of the medical screening process of the passengers. He also interacted with the doctors and the team at the airport.

According to a Kamrup (M) District Administration source, other north-eastern passengers whose temperature tests were normal, were sent to their respective States.
