GUWAHATI: The first spate of flood in Assam, on Monday, has affected 30,701 people in 127 villages of eight Revenue Circles across the five districts of Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, and Lakhimpur on Monday.

Following incessant rains across the Northeast, the Jia Bharali and the Puthimari rivers were flowing above the danger level at NH Rd in Sonitpur and NH Rd crossing in Kamrup respectively.

Altogether 8,941 people are residing in the 33 relief camps set up in Goalpara district. SDRF and NDRF personnel are using boats to rescue marooned people. Erosion has been reported from Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, and Udalguri, stated the flood bulletin of Assam State Disaster Management Authority.
