GUWAHATI: It is god news for job seekers that the Personnel department of the State government has sought the vacancy positions of ACS (Assam Civil Services) and allied services of various departments so as to fill them up. The posts of ACS and allied services that have been lying vacant after the dismissal of a number of accused officers from services in the cash-for-job scam in the APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) will also be filled up during the recruitment drive.

After the respective departments giving the positions of their vacant posts, the Personnel department, with the approval of the Chief Minister, will request the APSC to select candidates for appointment.

It has come to the notice of the Personnel department that various posts of ACS Junior Grade, Assam Police Service Junior Grade, Assam Taxation Service, etc have been lying vacant for long. The break-up of the number of ACS and allied service posts that have been lying vacant after the dismissal of a section of officers in the cash-for-job scam is: ACS Junior grade (31 posts), APS (11 posts), and Assam Taxation Services (six posts), besides two posts each of Assam Transport Services and Assam Labour Services.
