GUWAHATI: Altogether nine cases have been registered against seven IPS (Indian Police Service) personnel in different PS (Police Stations) here.

The seven IPS officials under the police scanner are Dr N Raja Marthandan, YK Gautam, Gaurabh Upadhaya, Satyaraj Hazarika, Mridul Dutta, Rounak Ali Hazarika, and BK Mishra.

Regarding Dr N Raja Marthandan, the Paltan Bazar PS has registered the case (311/2017 U/S 120 (B)/418/468/471 IPC R/W Section 98 (A) of Assam Police Act.

Against YK Gautam, Dispur PS has registered a case (1230/2018 U/S 420/409 IPC).

Gaurabh Upadhaya has been named in two cases registered in the State's only AWPS (All Women Police Station) at Pan Bazar in Guwahati. The cases are 05/2020 U/S 10 of POCSO Act, 354 (A) IPC and added Section 3(i)(xi)(w)(i) of SC & ST Act. Sources have informed that the Gauhati High Court is monitoring this case. It has been also learnt that "a part charge sheet" has been already filed in this regard. Jalukbari PS has also registered another case (1282/2019 U/S 120(B)/465/466/468/471/420 IPC R/W Section 7(A) of PC Act against Upadhyay.

Satyaraj Hazarika and Mridul Dutta have been named in a case registered in the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) PS at Ulubari here. The case number is 77/2010 U/S 120(B)/468/471/409/406 IPC.

Two cases have been registered against Rounak Ali Hazarika. The case in CID PS at Ulubari is 33/2016 U/S 384 IPC. Another case (412/2017 U/S 384) has been registered in Paltan Bazar PS.

BK Mishra has a case (56/2013 U/S 166/506 IPC, R/W Section 98 (A) of Assam Police Act-2007 registered in CID PS at Ulubari in Guwahati.

Except for the two cases registered against Gaurabh Upadhaya — where a part charge sheet has been filed in the case registered in the 'All Women PS' — investigation is pending concerning the other cases.

Sources informed that this data has been revealed in a report of the CID prepared in July 2021.
