Amid COVID, Healthcare Centres Under Water in Assam

People of Dholai in Cachar are facing tough times. The number of COVID cases is rising, but they have nowhere to go for testing or vaccination and treatment as several of the primary healthcare centres are under rainwater.

One person who visited one of the COVID testing centres said that he reached the centre only to find that there were no doctors or nurses.

Locals of the area have shared photos of the Dholai block primary health centre situated in Dholai Bazar under Cachar district. The centre can be seen deserted and under rainwater.

Cachar recorded 2,756 covid cases in the last 10 days.

With the yearly monsoons almost here and floods being a permanent phenomenon for Assam, one more time it is going to be a double whammy for the Assam government and the district administrations to handle COVID as well as floods.
