PM Modi Attends 400th Birth Anniversary Celebrations Of Lachit Borphukan

PM Narendra Modi attends valedictory session of 3-day celebrations at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Assam Govt organised 3-day mega event in New Delhi in honour of 17th century's great Ahom General Lachit Borphukan in a bid to secure his national recognition as a hero. Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Fmr-CJI & Rajya Sabha MP Ranjan Gogoi, Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary were present at the event.

PM started his address in Assamese to a huge round of applause. Also recalls excerpts of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika's song on Lachit. Great personalities like Lachit Borphukan are our constant inspirations: PM Modi. 'Lachit Borphukan's life inspires us to live the mantra of Nation First'. 'Fortunate to celebrate the 400th birth anniversary during the time when the nation is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.' On Nov 24, the PM greeted the nation on the occasion of Lachit Diwas.
