Singer Deeplina Deka’s Bihu Function Cancelled Amid Covid

Bihu committees from various parts of the state have decided to cancel Rongali Bihu functions due to coronavirus threats. To avoid mass gathering Bihu committees have taken the decision.

In Tinsukia's Digboi, the Digboi Rongali Bihu Sanmilan committee has cancelled the bihu function including singer Deeplina Deka's Bihu programme.

They took the decision in a meeting after taking stock of the current situation. Bihu committee president DR. Ajayananda Duwara presided over the meeting.

Speaking to the media, the organizing committee president said, "Digboi Rongali Bihu Sanmilan committee has cancelled Bihu function due to Covid 19 threat. But we will release the book 'Birina'. I would like to thank everyone who helped us to organize the bihu function."

The committee has decided to release a book named 'Birina' and to distribute art competition prizes which were held on April 18.

Digboi Rongali Bihu Sanmilan committee has started the programme on April 15, Bohagi marathon and art competition was held on April 18.

In Tinsukia district as of April 22, the active cases stand at 94. Assam recorded 10, 571 active cases till April 22.
