RAHA: The dead body of a man who was missing for two days was found floating in a pond at Koroiguri locality under Raha police station on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Mayur Senapati. He belonged to the Madhya Tupakusi village of the region and as per sources, the man has been missing since Wednesday.

The dead body was first spotted by a local person in the morning, after which he immediately informed the local people as well as the Raha police station. A team from the Raha police station arrived and recovered the body from the pond and sent it to Nagaon for the necessary postmortem.

The police team informed that an investigation has been initiated regarding the matter and that the post-mortem might reveal some of the details regarding the incident.

Previously, the dead body of an unidentified person was recovered near the railway tracks in the Biswanath region of the state on Tuesday night. According to the reports, the person was hit by a train at around 12:30 AM between the Biswanath Railway Station and the Sootea Railway Station. The face of the victim was completely damaged in the incident, making it difficult for the authorities to recognise the person. However, photographs of many people were recovered from the possession of the dead victim. Meanwhile, an investigation was initiated to identify the victim and find the reasons for the death.

Before that, the recovery of the dead body of a homeless person from Rajnagar village falling under the jurisdiction of the Kadamtala Police Station in the North Tripura district of Tripura triggered panic among the local people on Monday night According to police sources, the vagrant used to live somewhere in the market area of the village for a long time. And the body was recovered from a house located in the market area. The police took custody of the dead body and sent the same to the Kadamtala Community Health Centre. They sent the body for performing the necessary post-mortem procedures and started an investigation regarding the incident.
