NIA team in Dhekiajuli, begins investigation

DHEKIAJULI, January 2: A five–member team of NIA today reached Dhekiajuli and started investigations into the carge triggered by NDFB(S) there.

Officials of the central agency visited the houses of those killed in the December 23 massacre.

Later, the NIA team visited the cremation ground where the last rites of the victims were performed. Various organizations welcomed the arrival of the NIA team at Dhekiajuli for investigating the carge. The Dhekiajuli unit AASA president Lakheswar Mirdha and its secretary Amarjit Kerketta told media persons that the organization will fully cooperate with the NIA team as and when needed during the investigation process. They urged the investigation team to complete the investigation as early as possible so that the culprits may get exemplary punishment.

The Adibashi Mukti Sangramme Samity, Dhekiajuli unit president Dhiren Tirkey and its secretary Biswajit Minz also sought early completion of the inquiry and severe punishment to the guilty.

Meanwhile, the district administration has lifted the curfew completely. The Dhekiajuli area was slowly limping back to normalcy.
