BNC to meet Adivasi organizations for restoring peace and normalcy

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 3: An emergency executive meeting of the Bodo tiol Conference (BNC) was held at thePWD Guest House, Kokrajhar with Hagrama Mohilary, BNC president, in the chair. The meeting condemned the recent carge of Adivasi people by the NDFB(S) in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur.

Talking to media persons after the meeting, Kampa Borgoyary, general secretary and Anjali Daimary, secretary of BNC, said the conference strongly condemned the carge and urged the militants to shun violence. They said the BNC had decided to visit affected areas with all member organizations and intellectuals and meeting leaders of Adivasi organizations within a few days. The conference also decided to hold a meeting with the Adivasi tiol Convention (ANC) and AASAA on January 8 to discuss about bringing back peace and normalcy in the region. The BNC leaders appealed to all sections of the society to maintain peace and unity.

The BNC leaders also said that the annual convention of the conference had been rescheduled on January 19 and January 20 instead of January 3 and January 4 in Kokrajhar due to the prevailing situation in the district.

Among others, former Assam Minister and MLA Chandan Brahma, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, ABWWF President Mithinga Basumatary, leaders from member organizations were present in the meeting.
