ANSS observes 42nd foundation day

UDALGURI, January 4:  The Asam Nepali Sahitya Sabha (ANSS) observed its 42nd foundation day here at Golmagaon High School premises on Sunday with a day–long programme.

During the programme, a mouthpiece, a souvenir and six books were released.  The programme began with the hoisting of flag by Dambar Dahal, the president of Asam Nepali Sahitya Sabha which was followed by smriti tarpan by Dr Chintamani Sarmah, the general secretary of ANSS, and lighting of lamp by Bidyapati Dahal, litterateur. A sapling was planted by Kuber Chandra Chhetry, the advisor of Asom Gorkha Sanmellan.

The literary programme was iugurated by litterateur Tarapati Upadhyaya and chaired by Bishnu Sarmah Neupane, the president of Udalguri district committee of ANSS, and the poem recitation programme was conducted by Puspadhar Sarmah, the Sahitya Akademi translation award winning litterateur. Poets like Sansuma Khungur Brahma, Bhabesh Dutta and Indrakanta Karki presented their poems during the session.

Prodeep Kumar Daimary, the MCLA of BTC Bhairabkunda constituency, lauded the efforts of Udalguri district committee of ANSS for the development of Nepali literature in the district.  The souvenir Sahitya Sangam was released by Dambar Dahal, the mouthpiece of ANSS Sabha Darpan was released by Tarapati Upadhyaya. The book Biranga by Tarapati Upadhyaya was released by Kar Bahadur Chhetry, Nepali Sahityako Itihas by Bidyapati Dahal was released by Dr. Khemraj Nepal, Joki Porua, the Assamese translation of the Nepali book Junkiri by Bishnu Sarmah Neupane was released by Dr. Jamadagni Upadhyaya,  Vyatha Katha by Jaganidhi Dahal was released by Dr. Chintamani Sarmah and a Nepali quiz book was released by Rudra Baral.

An internet portal Gorkha Sathi was also released during the occasion.
