Mystery shrouds CRPF officer’s death

MANGALDAI, January 5: Tension prevails in Dalgaon area of Darrang district following the reported suicide of a Sub–Inspector of the 210 Cobra battalion of CRPF inside the high security CRPF campus on Sunday night.

Though the officials of the Cobra battalion of the CRPF are tight lipped about the incident, the deceased has been identified as Sub–Inspector K Sarvanda (30) of South India. He reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself on the verandah of the officers’ mess at about 2 am but his colleagues came to know about it only at about 3.30 am. The cause of the suicide is yet to be ascertained.
