RPRS launched in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, January 5: To bring the government closer to people and to redress their grievances at their doorsteps, Raijor Padulit Raijor Sarkar (RPRS) initiative was launched in Sivasagar recently.

Virendra Mittal, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Sivasagar, launched the initiative at Desangmukh Gaon Panchayat (GP). The DC took part in a cleanliness drive under Mukhyamantir Asomor Nirmal aru Seuj Asom (MASA) at the RPRS venue. The DC also visited a local school, Anganwadi Centre and Mini Primary Health Centre to inspect their hygiene and sanitation. An interaction with the public was also held at the RPRS venue to apprise them on issues related to health, hygiene, sanitation and education. As part of the programme, grievance petitions were also received from the local public and the RPRS team offered on–the–spot solution to their problems.

The RPRS programme will cover all the 118 gaon panchayats (GP) of Sivasagar district. Already 31 RPRS teams were constituted in the district to conduct the programme at every GP involving the local public. The GP level RPRS team includes one representative from the Deputy Commissioner, GP Secretary/ Gram Sevak or Junior Engineer of P&RD Department, one women representative nomited by the DC and one officer from the department concerned. Apart from health, hygiene, sanitation and education, the RPRS teams will interact with people on social security and women empowerment, land revenue and disaster magement and rural infrastructure, livelihood and skills.

For effective implementation of the RPRS initiative, 300 government servants have been trained in a phased manner at Sivasagar, Charaideo and zira subdivision of the district. Further, a District Coordition and Monitoring Team with Deputy Commissioner as chairman and Project Director, DRDA as member secretary has also been formed.

Other members of the committee include Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad and district in–charge of  government departments.
