Devastating fire in Digboi, 15 houses gutted

DIGBOI, January 6 : In a devastating fire that broke out here on Tuesday evening  at a residential area at Itavata under Digboi Police Station in Tinsukia district, 15 rented houses were gutted.

According to sources, the rented houses belonged to Yam Prasad Upadhaya and Dandapani Upadhaya. The damage is yet to be assessed.

However, sources said that property worth several lakh was destroyed in the inferno. No causality was reported till the filling of this report.

Meanwhile, AOD fire tenders rushed to the place and successfully doused the fire. The cause of  the fire is yet to be ascertained.
