Nostalgia at online Bhupendra Sangeet competition

JORHAT, January 6: The grand file of the first ever online Bhupendra Sangeet competition organized by Mazumba Media and Entertainment Limited, Jorhat under the supervision of US based Bhupen Hazarika Foundation, concluded successfully with the crowning of six best singers in the upper and lower level from a total of 100 participants at a programme held at the Jorhat District Library recently.

The competition which was judged by Samar Hazarika, brother of singing maestro Bhupen Hazarika, noted mathematician Dr Dilip Dutta, singer–composer Ruby Singha and Sibani Barua awarded the first, second and third prize in the upper category to Prera Dutta, Aamri Zariya and Anga Neog while in the lower level, Regnensia Kashyap, Jitali Gogoi and Alok Pran Kachari came first, second and third respectively. The competition was the result of an initiative taken by world famous singer, composer and Guinness World Record Holder Rupam Sarmah. Three noted persolities Tilmizur Rahman, Indreshwar Sarmah and Nurul Haque were felicitated by Mazumba Entertainment for their outstanding contribution in the field of music. Later in the evening, Bhupen Hazarika’s son Tez Hazarika and wife Priyambada Patel read out their message through online video conferencing while Samar Hazarika and the participants made the crowd nostalgic by singing songs of the legend.
