Drama to be staged during Silpi Divas celebration

DIBRUGARH, January 7: The Sanmmilita Sangskritik Sangstha and Dibrugarh ba Jagriti Yubak Sangha will celebrate Silpi Divas centrally at Jyoti Mancha (Bakul Maj Gaon), Lahowal in Dibrugarh district from January 16 to January 18.

The president of Silpi Divas Celebration Committee, Karu Hazarika, informed that five full–length drama, Dulia Ojha, Karengar Ligiri, Pratighat, I am Sorry and Santrash, will be staged besides holding drawing, recitation, Jyoti sangeet, quiz and modern dance competitions.

Dulia Ojha will be staged in memory of Ra Ranjan Gogoi while Karengar Ligiri directed by Vidyabati Phukan and Pratighat directed by Biplab Chowdhury will be staged in memory of Dr kul Chandra Hazarika. The third day’s drama, I am Sorry, directed by Pranjal Buragohain of Dhemaji and Santrash directed by Ranjit Handique are dedicated to the memory of Hemendra Kumar Hazarika.

Semir and open meeting will be held on January 18 where a number of prominent persolities from literary, jourlism and education spheres will grace the occasion. The other highlights of the three–day celebration, Hazarika disclosed, would be hoisting of flag, tree plantation, intimate discussion, Jyoti Sangeet presentation by Manjuri Phukan of Tamolbari Tea Estate and a cultural procession depicting the ethnic life and culture of Upper Assam and its adjoining areas.
