NIA Director General visits violence–hit areas in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, January 8: A day after the visit in riot–hit areas in Sonitpur district of North Assam, the Director General of NIA Sharad Kumar on Thursday visited the affected places in Kokrajhar district with other high–level officials.

The NIA Director General landed at Bismuri near tiol Highway and moved to Ultapani and Saralpara under Bismuri police outpost. He also visited at Pakriguri under Serfanguri police station and Lumsung, Kwdwmguri under Karigaon outpost and assessed the situation. He met the affected people and talked to them.

The NIA started their investigation in the district from January 1. The NIA has taken up two cases in Kokrajhar (case number 557/2014 and 558/2014). The NIA team has already met the security forces and officers like SSB, SP, DC of Kokrajhar, Army CO and other paramilitary forces for thorough investigation into the massacre of innocent Adivasi people by suspected NDFB (S) militants on December 23. Altogether 31 people were killed in inhuman killings and counter killings in the district. In Kokrajhar, the team has been investigating the cases in Pakhriguri under Serfanguri police station and Ultapani, Saralpara under Kokrajhar police station.
