Karbi Anglong on the path of development: KAAC CEM

Donkamokam, January 9: “I am in the State cabinet but I can’t do anything here in the hills since it is a Sixth Schedule area. The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) is the sole authority in implementation of development schemes and in appointments. I can give directions to the council but accepting my directions or not depends on the council members,” said  HAD Minister Khorsing Engti at a public meet on Friday at Dalimbari under Duar Amla MAC constituency in west Karbi Anglong, about 35 km away from Boithalangso PS.

He added that the Centre or State Government could not interfere in the work of the KAAC. He said that the district was developing but peace had to be established.

KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang said that Karbi Anglong was on the path of development. Attacking BJP leader and former CEM Joyram Engleng, he said that he did not abide by the rules and regulations of the high command and hence he was dislodged from the post of the CEM. He asked people not to be misled by the BJP’s false propaganda.

Presided over by Dhoniram Engleng, president of DMCC, the meeting was also attended by MLA Dr Mansing Rongpi, EMs Jibon Pathak, DU Maslai, Longki Timung and others.

In the meeting 167 members of the Opposition, led by Perfection Marak, HSDP leader, joined the Congress.

Earlier, a mini indoor stadium was iugurated by CEM Tuliram Ronghang in the presence of HAD Minister and other EMs at Dalimbari field.
