Bhaskarya and Shilpar Din celebrated

LAKHIMPUR, May 10: North Lakhimpur Press Club (NLPC) celebrated Bhaskarya and Shilpar Din on Wednesday in a befitting manner on the occasion of the 70th birth anniversary of its former President late Nanda Kishor Maheswari. For last eleven years, the NLPC has been celebrating the day as Bhaskarya and Shilpar Din, which is the birthday of Nanda Kishor Maheswari, who was a multi-faceted genius as a pioneer journalist, social activist, architect, cine and stage actor, translator and creative literary figure. He was one of those who had contributed much to build the modern Lakhimpur. The programme, which was anchored by Kumud Baruah, the Secretary of NLPC, began with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by Paresh Borah, a cine actor cum former principal of Panigaon HS School. It was followed by a show of a documentary, titled A Tribute to Nanda Kishor Mahswari, on the life of the person which was produced by journalist Karuna Krishna Nath. A portrait of Maheswari, drawn by artiste Raju Das, was inaugurated by his spouse Puspa Devi Maheswari.
