Dibrugarh, June 20: In keeping with the infectious fervour of the FIFA World Cup, 2018, Dibrugarh District Sports Department, while following the orders of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, has made arrangements for live screening of the World Cup matches at the Chowkidinghee Field.

The measure, which has been taken to boost the entertainment level of the public, has gone down well with the people here. The screening of the matches started from June 14 and will continue till July 15. Although there have been earlier instances of private screening of cricket matches or soccer matches, such a gesture coming from the side of the government is unheard of, and certainly commendable. The initiative will also go a long way towards underpinning the popular belief that Assam has in it to produce quality football players. It will, at the same time, encourage the budding players to work hard and pursue their dreams with unflagging tenacity.
