True colour

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has been once again exposed on Netaji's birthday. In a gorgeous function, the 'PARAKRAM DIVAS', held in Kolkata's Victoria Memorial she raised objection to chanting of Jai Shree Ram. According to Mamta Banerjee, chanting of Jai Shree Ram is direct insult to a particular community. When Azaan is called in loudspeakers I think nobody from any community feels insults rather sometimes we pray to Allah to bless us. This is the result of appeasement policy in which Mamta Banerjee and company always feel insecure if by any chance her pet voters might get offended. West Bengal is now in dire straits due to the wrong policies of the then Leftist rule and presently due to TMC's preference to a particular religion.

Misguided youth

Youth is the mainstay of a country's strength. Unfortunately, the total number of unemployed in Assam is currently around 4 million. While being workless, these youngsters are growing disgusted with life. Many young people are unknowingly falling into the trap of evil, anti-social and separatist militants. If the state wants to get rid of this situation, then the government will never be able to give government jobs to these 4 million unemployed youth. It is never possible. Other than the only neglected tea industry in the state, there is no other industrial establishment in the state. The traditional oil industry of the state has also introduced an All-India recruitment system not only in the state. In the same way, the candidates of the Central government for Railways and Postal are also selected at the All India level. Therefore, the government is unable to provide government jobs to 4 million unemployed people in the state. The efforts of the government to unite the 4 million unemployed youth and revive the country's cottage and medium-scale industries can solve the problem of unemployment. Swami Vivekananda called upon the youth to use their inexhaustible energy for the betterment of the country. Swami Vivekananda's birthday is being celebrated as the Youth Day of Independent India to give importance to that call. Our State of Assam has also given special priority to this Youth Day. The State government is implementing a special programme aimed at simplifying local enterprises and rural economy. Special priority has been given to the Women empowerment scheme of the Central government. Special programmes have been taken to improve the Cottage industry. Meanwhile, Assam Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Bishwa Sharma said, "We have a dream for the younger generation and we are determined to make that dream a reality." From that determination to fulfillment, at the beginning of this hopeful journey, Assam has already implemented a new SVAYEM scheme or Swami Vivekananda Assam Youth Empowerment Yojana (Scheme). On 21st, 22nd, 27th January, the beneficiaries who have been granted application under the new self-employed project will be officially given the approval letter by their districts. Meanwhile, the SVAYEM scheme has been launched in Amingaon, rural district of Kamrup in the presence of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, along with Dr. Himanta Bishwa Sharma.

There is no doubt that if the government is able to harness the inexhaustible manpower inherent in the youth through the scheme launched in the name of this great heroic monk, a huge youth force will be formed. Everything will depend on the goodwill of the government and zero tolerance against corruption. Which, of course, is the motto of the Sarbananda government. However, we are very optimistic about the youth of our country.

Made us proud

Angarag Mahanta alias Papon has made us proud with his soulful song on the occasion of Parakaram Divas in Kolkata. The distinguished gathering assembled there appreciated his performance which was mind blowing. Papon, who has less fan following in Assam in comparison to Zubeen Garg, is much more successful than the latter in national and international circuit. Not any Tom Dick and Harry get the opportunity to perform before such an auspicious occasion on the 125th birthday of Great Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself applauded his performances. Being an Assamese I felt so proud. I wish many more success to talented Papon.

Baseless CPI

The CPI has no base currently in Assam. But still around 80-100 red-flag-waving people are seen roaming in the State doing some or the other form of protests. It's another matter that general public hardly gives them any space. Where from they are managing finances? One cannot be fool to think that some businessmen would invest on them because everyone knows CPI candidates at best can occupy bottom three positions in EVM. There are possibly three to four sponsors. Badruddin Ajmal, Congress or the Chinese government through various channels transfer funds in different accounts just to make the presence of the party across the State. The sad story is that their main man Dr. Hiren Gohain is always absent in the programmes. If he can spare a few minutes in those programmes then definitely a few more TV reporters would come forward. In the next Assembly elections CPI scoring another duck is almost confirmed but I don't want to dishearten the people engaged in protest activities, at least these people are earning a few bucks at the end of the day.

Confusion

There has always been confusion whether Ajit Kumar Bhuyan's baby – the Anchalik Gana Morcha – is a political party. Mira Borthakur, whenever asked why she jumped out of the Anchalik Gana into the Congress, says the Anchalik Gana Morcha is not a political party but a political forum. This is one version. The founder's version is completely different. Ajit Kumar Bhuyan in a humble tone said "ours is a small political party. We are also of the opinion that the Anchalik Gana Morcha is a regional political party of Assam."

Then why has Mira Borthakur switched over to the Congress? Jumping one party to another is common thing and Mira Borthakur has done it a number of times. Her only problem is that she can only survive in one party for a short duration. Mira Borthakur could have given so many other reasons for her decision to go to the Congress, but saying that the Anchalik Gana Morcha is not a political party is an insult for senior journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan.

Jakhalabandha.
