Sexual Abuse in Educational Institutions

As reported in the media recently, a girl student of Dibrugarh University had been sexually harassed by a professor of the same university many a time. She dared to open her mouth by showing her record on her mobile phone. The plea was that she would be favoured by being awarded good marks in different examinations. I praise and appreciate this girl for being courageous in opening up against such sexual abuse by her own teacher. Many more girl students might have been sexually abused but they might have not yet gathered the courage to speak up for the fear of them getting less marks.

But, strangely enough, this very teacher who had left his job by taking VRS has been appointed Vice Chancellor of Dhemaji Cultural University!

I would, therefore, like to request the authority concerned to look into this issue seriously so that the educational atmosphere of Dibrugarh University as well as Dhemaji Cultural University, and many other educational institutions too, do not deteriorate further.
