Another murder shocks Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: Guwahati has been rocked by several murders, one after the other. In the most recent incident that has come to light, a man allegedly murdered his wife in Guwahati.

The incident took place in the Sunkuchi locality of Beharbari in Guwahati. The victim, identified as Hameda Begum, was reportedly choked to death. She was the mother of two children. Meanwhile, the husband of the victim, Jel Haque, has been missing since the incident, increasing suspicion about him.

It was informed that the family belonged to Goalpara and had been staying as tenants in the house for the past few days, and the man used to work as a daily wage labourer. The local people mentioned that there was a quarrel between the couple last night, and the death is speculated to be a result of the same.

A team from the Basistha Police Station under the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) arrived at the location and started the investigation. It was informed that the earlier thought to be absconding Jel Haque later surrendered at the Lakhipur Police Station in Goalpara.
