Development and preservation of languages discussed in international conference

GUWAHATI: The international conference on 'Development of Language, Literature: Challenges & Responsibilities in 2022' was organized by Swarnalipi along with Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya and Dispur College.

The inauguration ceremony of the conference was held at the Dispur College auditorium in the presence of dignitaries from Japan and other parts of the State. Dr Balendra Kumar Das, president of governing body, gave a brief description about Dispur College and also spoke about the development and preservation of various languages that exist in Assam and north-eastern states.

Vice Chancellor of Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya, Prof Jyoti Prasad Saikia hoped that the conference would pave the path to discover the ways of development of many languages and literature that have enriched India from ancient times. Professor Goutam Kumar Bora of Tezpur University was the chief guest who delivered the keynote address where he dwelt on various theoretical approaches as propounded by western critics in the context of development of language and literature. Former Professor of Gauhati University, Dr Govinda Prasad Sarma spoke on the perception of concept which will lead to the development of thought that resulted in formation of language and literature. He also spoke on the relation of literature and philosophy and the importance of language. Dr Suresh Rituparna of Japan explained the diasporic dilemma of Indian original people living in Fiji, Mauritius and Trinidad with respect to their language and culture.

Altogether 39 researchers presented their papers in the four academic sessions.
