Fireflies - First-ever film in North East on transgenders released digitally

GUWAHATI: A short film based on the transgender community titled Fireflies - Jonaki Porua was digitally released on Friday.

It is the first film from the North East which is based on the third gender. The film has been written and directed by filmmaker Prakash Deka, produced by Milan Dutta, music by Tarali Sarma, sound design by Debojit Gayan, and editing by Ratan Sil Sarma.

Recently, lead actor of the film - Benjamin Daimary received the best actor award at the Asian Queer Film Festival (AQFF). The film has been showcased in 20 International film festivals like Indian Film Festival in Ireland, Twin City Film Festival in America, and International Film Festival in Uganda.

Fireflies - Jonaki Porua has also received numerous accolades from jury and audience all across the globe.
