GUWAHATI: The Post Graduate Students' Union, Gauhati University is demanding Common Entrance Test for PG admission in the university. The Union submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor mentioning that they're finding certain anomalies in the recent notification released by the university regarding admission in postgraduate level.

The union claimed that the marks obtained by a student in graduation is not enough to determine his eligibility. Hence the union is demanding common entrance test on the basis of which student will be selected for PG admission. The union however said that the eligibility criteria for appearing in the entrance should be 45 % marks in graduation. The Union further urged the university authority to make a clear statement as to what they've decided about the PG final semester examination and when they'll conduct the examination, as the final year student are going through confusion over this matter.

Besides appealing to the university authority to look into the matter of back examination the union also urged that the university authority should discuss with the owners of private hostels regarding 50% exemption of hostel fee for the students.
