International Civil Aviation Day Celebrated at Guwahati Airport

GUWAHATI: Internationa Civil Aviation Day is celebrated on December 7 every year since 1994 as a United Nations event to recognise the importance of the aviation sector in development across the world.

The Guwahati International Airport Limited organised an event to commemorate International Civil Aviation Day today at the premises of the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. The aim of the celebration was to acknowledge the influence of the aviation sector in almost all aspects of modern life. Because of the aviation sector, today have been empowered to travel to any corner of the planet in a matter of hours. This has made the world a very small place and thus encouraged growth and development in almost all other sectors.

Celebrating the occasion, the airport authority invited a group of students from the Chandra Prava Girls High School located in Azara of the Kamrup district of the state along with their teachers Dharmakanta Das and Ghanakahata Talukdar. The guests got a walkthrough at the airport premises as they were shown how the airlines and different stakeholders collaborate for the smooth functioning of all the services. After the tour, a knowledge-sharing session was conducted on the airport premises.

The Chief Airport Officer Utpal Baruah handled the queries of the participants on a variety of topics related to aviation, planes, jobs and airport management. He also shared his experiences and anecdotes based on his years of experience in this field.

Lalmohan Thakur, the head Central Industrial Security Force at Guwahati Airport was also present for the event along with several officials from the Guwahati International Airport Limited. Ruma Devi, the spokesperson for the organisation coordinated the celebration of International Civil Aviation Day at Guwahati Airport.
