GUWAHATI: The All Assam TET Qualified Teachers' Association has demanded that the Education Department allow the transfer of teachers who have completed ten years of service and those who are patients of serious illness without any condition.
In a statement to the media, the association's president, Trailokyo Deka, said, "It has come to light that the department has transferred teachers to low PTR (pupil-teacher ratio) districts. On the other hand, the department has not transferred teachers to some districts on the pretext of high PTR. This is sheer discrimination. There are teachers who have completed ten years of service who are in the dark. The department has transferred teachers in a pick-and-choose manner. According to the Teacher Transfer Act 2020, if the teacher of a district is qualified for transfer to another district, the teachers of all the districts should be eligible for inter-district transfer. The law is equal for all, and maintaining the PTR is not the responsibility of teachers. The department introducing new rules at the time of publishing the list of transferred teachers is not acceptable."
