Rare tortoise released in Saraighat Lake at Amingaon

GUWAHATI: A rare species of tortoise was released in the Saraighat Lake at Amingaon on Wednesday in presence of Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jally and Superintendent of Police Hitesh Chandra Ray.

The tortoise was recovered by the president of the North Guwahati Journalist Forum, Ranjan Dutta with the help of a local farmer. Journalists Lakshmi Deka, Gobinda Das, Munin Deka, Kaushik Das and many other nature lovers were present at the time of releasing the tortoise, informed a press release.
