GUWAHATI: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police launched a drive against illegal gambling in the Fatasil locality of the city and apprehended four people for their involvement in gambling on Friday. The team also seized several items used in such illegal activities.
Based on specific inputs, a team from the Special Task Force of Assam Police carried out an operation against an illegal 'teer' in the New Colony, MB Road area that comes under the Fatasil Ambari Police station. The identities of the four arrested people are: Bijoy Raj (22), a resident of Bisnupur under Fatasil Ambari Police Station; Harindra Sah (19), a resident of Rathkhola Gully under Fatashil Ambari Police Station; Nazrul Hoque (40), a resident of Birubari under Paltan Bazar Police Station; and Dukham Mahato (47), a resident of Biren Boro Path under Fatashil Ambari Police Station.
The police mentioned that these people were habitual gamblers and seized several items from their possession. The seized items include 45 Teer Gambling Books, Rs. 6340 in cash, 4 papers indicating Teer Shooting Time (District: Ri-Bhoi, Regd No. 2 in Meghalaya), 8 pens, one hard board, and one seal, among other items.
The Special Task Force handed over the apprehended persons, along with the seized items, to the local police station.
