GUWAHATI: A woman went missing on the banks of the Brahmaputra while she was on her morning walk in Dharapur Dhopartal. The woman is identified as Beena Baishya. She is the wife of the late Durgesh Baishya of Dhopartal Baishyapara in Dharapur.
After she did not return from her morning walk, her family members searched for her. After searching various places, locals found the sandals lying on the banks of the river. Locals suspect that to be Beena Baishya’s.
As per sources, she might have slipped into the river while washing her face in the water. The victim’s family members immediately informed Azara police, and Pandu River police rushed to the scene and informed the SDRF. Accordingly, the SDRF divers arrived at the Brahmaputra ghat in Dharapur Dhopartal and conducted a rescue operation on the banks of the Brahmaputra. The SDRF conducted a rescue operation for about four hours, but no trace of Beena Baishya has been found so far.
