Itagar, February 01: The Aruchal Pradesh State Co–operative Apex Bank on Saturday conducted ‘Fincial Literacy Counseling Camp’ sponsored by BARD in collaboration with YUVA Aruchal at Lhou–tso village in the remote Indo–Chi border district of Tawang.
Around 170–190 villagers (mostly senior citizens), from 18 hamlets of Lhou–tso benefited from the camp, a press release informed.
The camp was organized to create awareness on fincial concepts including persol fince, budgeting, saving, advantages of a saving bank account and magement of money etc. and to enroll maximum number of bank account in this remote part of the country under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojan (PMJDY).
Bamin T Kani, Assistant GM of the bank who spearheaded the camp, spoke at length on the above topics of fincial planning and the benefits of PMJDY.
New saving bank accounts were opened under PMJDY.
Account holders were informed that they would be issue RuPay debit card with inbuilt accident insurance cover of Rs. 1 lakh and an over draft facility of Rs. 5000 after six months of account opening.
“In the next one week we would go door–to–door to see that every household has a saving account and that maximum villagers benefit from the scheme”, said Dawa N, Gen Secy YUVA Aruchal.
Booklets on fincial literacy and fincial diary were also distributed to the participants.
Apart from the villagers, branch magers of Tawang and Jang Apex Bank, GBs, PRI members, public leaders, teachers and students participated in the fincial literacy camp, the release added.
