Body of newborn baby found

MIRZA, March 22: Local residents found a baby dumped in a pond at Satpokholi under Palashbari police station in Kamrup district today. The baby boy with his umbilical cord still intact was wrapped in a red cotton cloth, said the residents.  According to sources, when local residents saw a red cloth in the pond, they took a closer look and to their horror, they found a dead baby boy wrapped in the cloth.  When local informed police about the incident, the police took possession of the body.  "It was shocking. Earlier also we have got babies from garbage bins in the area," said a police official.
