Girls outshine boys in Jorhat, second position holder in Science from Titabor

JORHAT, May 30: In the HS fil examition, 2015 in the Arts, Science and Commerce stream, girls have outshined boys in Jorhat district by getting positions among the top 10 and topping the list is Pragjyotika Junior College of Titabor from where Syeda Jeerin Rehz bagged the second position in Science along with Daisy Das who secured the 10th position in Arts. Similarly, Shabm Richa Sonowal also secured the 10th position in Arts from Crescent Academy in Jorhat. Girls have once again brought me and fame to their respective educatiol institutions.

From Pragjyotika Junior College of Titabor, Syeda Jeerin Rehz secured 472 marks with 94.4 per cent in Science and Daisy Das secured 467 marks with 93.4 per cent in Arts. Syeda Jeerin Rehz is the daughter of Syed Ibnul Karim and Syeda Mahmuda Rahman of Titabor while Daisy Das is the daughter of Dilip Das and Kunu Das of Bebejia, Kachari village of Titabor. Moreover, out of the total 420 appeared students in the Science stream, 414 got first division and six got second division while 240 students among them secured star marks.  Similarly, in the Arts stream out of the total 107 appeared, 93 bagged first division and 14 got second division while 25 among them got star marks. And filly in the Commerce stream, out of the total 37 appeared, 22 students got first division and 15 got second division while four among them got star marks. Polashi Bora scored 100 out of 100 in Assamese.

Shabm Richa Sonowal of Crescent Academy, Jorhat secured the 10th position in Arts while Arpon Jyoti Parashar got the State highest mark in Computer Science. Out of the total 70 students who appeared in Science, 57 got first division and 29 among them getting star marks. In Arts 205 students appeared among whom 114 got first division and 65 among them got star marks. In Commerce stream, 35 students appeared among whom 17 secured first division while three among them secured star marks.

Talking to The Sentinel, Director of Pragjyotika Junior College, Apurba Chandra Deka said, “Last year we excelled in Science and this year in Arts. This is a moment of great pride and rejoicing for both the students and the teachers. Our students have made us proud one again. In Pragjyotika we mould the teachers who in turn motivate and mould the students to excel in their respective streams. Credit goes to the relentless effort of the teachers and the dedication of our students.”

The overall pass percentage in Jorhat was 91.5 per cent in Science, 83.8 per cent in Arts and 88.92 per cent in Commerce.
