MARGHERITA, June 3: The Divisiol Forest Office, Digboi Division which falls under Tinsukia district is suffering from manpower crunch, said Ranjan Kumar Das, Divisiol Forest Officer, Digboi Division.
Ranjan Kumar Das said that altogether 90 posts were lying vacant in the Digboi Forest Range Office, Soraipung Forest Range Office, Lakhipather Forest Range Office, East Margherita Forest Range Office, West Margherita Forest Range Office, Lekhapani Forest Range Office, Jagun ForestĀ Range Office and Protection Squad which falls under Digboi Forest Division. Posts like Assistant Conservator Forest Officer, Forester Grade I, Forester Grade 2, Forest Guard, Deputy Ranger, Senior Assistant, Junior Assistant and Surveyor are lying vacant. He said that even though the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and senior forest officials had been appraised about this several times, no action had been taken as yet to fill up these vacant posts.
Das said, "I joined the Digboi Forest Division on March 23 this year and since then a lot of activities have been done by my initiative. At Digboi Arabretum various plants and trees were planted in 100 hectares of land. If people of this region cooperate with us then we can make Digboi Forest Division one of the most developed forest divisions of Assam."
