NFR completes Rangia-Murkongselek gauge conversion

Itagar, May 10: Commissioner of Railway Safety, N F Circle Kolkata, Sudarshan yak has inspected the newly converted BG. line from Sripani to Murkongselek (72 Km) Balipara to Bhalukpong (34.8 Km) of Rangiya-Murkongselek Gauge Conversion Project (tiol Project) of Rangiya Division from May 6 to 8 last.He conducted Motor Trolley inspection from Sripani to Telam and from Telam to Murkongselek and then speed Train trial run from Murkongselek to Sripani, an official communiqué informed here today.He also inspected the branch line from Balipara to Bhalukpong for opening of the section for passenger traffic.In both the sections the high speed trial run was conducted at 115/116 kmph.The gauge conversion from Sripani to Murkongselek and Balipara to Bhalukpong is a part of Rangiya – Murkongselek (511.88 Km) gauge conversion project. For the project, at first Rangiya-Rangapara North-Dekargaon (144.48 Km) was completed on September 7, 2013, Rangapara North-Harmuti (142.76 Km) completed on March 28 last year, Harmuti-North Lakhimpur (35 Km) completed on December 16 last, North Lakhimpur to Sripani (82 Km) completed on March 13 last and filly from Sripani to Murkongselek and from Balipara to Bhalukpong completed on May 8 last, the communiqué said.With the completion of CRS Inspection in both the remaining sections of the project, literally the work of much awaited tiol Project of Rangiya-Murkongselek Gauge Conversion Project has come to an end.  N.F.Railway will start passenger and goods traffic operation shortly, the communiqué added.
