Itagar, March 1: Sunpura, one of the oldest circles in Lohit district, created way back in the year 1982 despite being adjacent to Sadiya district of Assam, is still struggling in terms of its administrative services.
To start with, the absence of circle officer (CO) since last year is making matters worse and regrettably no development is seen till date.
When enquired about the actual facts, the staff from Circle Office outburst with ground realities citing complete collapse of administration.
“Only a single clerk is running the entire circle. The sensitive border area is most vulnerable to land disputes and other untoward incidents. The circle needs immediate up-gradation as even its Assam counterpart has an SDO post. A circle is too small to liaison with a sub-division if any dispute arises with Assam,” laments a staff in the state of anonymity.
Adding to the grievances, the main road of Sunpura from Kali Lhola (Tezu side) which is merely 15 km in distance is in its worst condition as the road beyond Tri – Junction of Trans Aruchal Highway to the check gate is in a complete dilapidated condition.
“If it rains, crossing the road is almost like crossing a river, dotted potholes, ponds like situation makes the road un-motorable,” a local rues.
“The department has done very less to address the crisis causing tremendous hurdle for the citizens of Sunpura and other commuters. When can we see proper road? The lackadaisical attitude of the government towards the circle is quite noticeable here,” he adds.
