

Dr Prasanna Kumar Goswami (Dr PK Goswami), renowned ENT surgeon, Retd. Head of Department - ENT, Guwahati Medical College passed away on January 30 at his residence at Mathura Nagar, Nibir Path, house no 2. He was 88 years old. Dr. Goswami's wife, Suniti Goswami had predeceased him. He is survived by his two sons, one daughter, daughter-in-laws, son-in-law and five grandchildren.
Having lost his parents at a very early childhood, Dr PK Goswami navigated his way throughout his life on his own accord. After studying at St Edmunds College, Shillong he completed post-graduation in Medicine from PGI Chandigarh in the year 1966, one of India's premier institute for medical sciences. He pursued his profession as a doctor and served the community until March 2020 before the first Covid lockdown. He was the former president of Guwahati chapter of association of Otolaryngologists of India (AOI). Dr Goswami actively contributed to associated hospitals under ENT and always encouraged upcoming talents in this field. He was a self-made person and a great teacher as fondly recalled by his students. In the words from his students: " Sir, was very popular amongst all students, always polite and unbiased and greatly respected by all. His influence will go on through all lives that he touched. He was a true gentleman, excellent surgeon, well known for his patient care and was a vast reservoir of knowledge on the subject of ENT."
Today, on the day of his adyashraddha, we pray to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to this noble soul.
